Cassie L. Miller, the Pathways Program Director, is a retired administrator from the San Francisco Unified School District. Her credentials are in teaching, counseling, and administration. She has worked with children and youth for over 30 years and during that time to now has never given up on a child. Her philosophy is that, “All children and youth given the proper love, nurturing and dedicated commitment by adults can and will flourish emotionally and academically!”
Cassie has worked with a variety of youth from diversified cultures, environmental backgrounds, and ethnic distinctions. Throughout her career as teacher, counselor and administrator she has planned and worked within programs designed to address the immediate needs of the children participating in these programs. She has worked with special needs students, academically challenged students, underserved students, and limited English speaking students.
While her specialty is mathematics, Cassie has developed another specialty — the ability to meet students where they are mentally and academically and lift them to greater heights. Her joy in working with youth shines through the exceptional work she has been able to accomplish with these young people over the years. Her students often come back to see her tell her how much they appreciate her concern in teaching and guiding them.
Cassis has been responsible for organizing and implementing pilot re-entry programs, planning master schedules at school sites, directing student activities and skills classes, supervising students who have been suspended from their home school, maintaining student records, working with the San Francisco Citywide Tutorial Program, supervision of certificated teachers and classified staff, developing and evaluating programs, serving as Assistant Principal, Central Office Administrator, and Assistant to the Superintendent in the Human Resources Department of the San Francisco Unified School District.
